All sorts of things. Not everyone was a friend, but -- you talked of your tasks, or your old family at home, or of Watch business, or of what some of the Rangers had seen in past years. Sam used to talk about things he'd found in the library at Castle Black. You wouldn't want some of them to talk of their crimes -- the killers or the rapers -- but some had just taken some food when they were hungry, or been falsely accused of something by a lord.
