I ask that you use caution if encountering Yhych in the courts. Or at least carry with you an anti-toxin.

[ dot dot dot . . . ]

Is anyone a weapon-maker here?

Ignore my next message until you are alone or are able to control your reaction.

[ There will be a pause, one which seems to tick away as an eternity for her. And then: ]

I'm told Kebechet is here.

[. . . oh.]

Do you plan to speak to them?

In the grand scheme of things, I am unsure if I am able to answer such things for all of us.

...But for us, personally, yes. I believe that we have business left unfinished.

I shall do so.

I would only ask you not make a move to approach Kebechet without asking me to join you.

[There's a moment's pause.]

Yes.

Our situation is far more tenuous here. What happened in the Regency prison cannot be afforded to be replicated.

I agree.

It is strange to think she was there all along, and we simply did not know. We would do well not to waste this information.

[He has actually seen Mordred's reserved and thoughtful side more often than not, so he probably has the best (and least realistic??) perception of how she might react, but they all would do to be careful.]

I would not either.

If we are to confront her, doing it together would be the best course of action. We can do what we can to calm Mordred together.

That is true.
Sometimes the gravity of our situation here escapes my mind. But this is truly the most important battlefield to be fought right now. Yes, of course Kebechet would be here.

She will be valuable to have around regardless.
We might have need of her strength, should civility fail us.
lonelywar: (and then shit got serious)

can't remember if this is PRIVATE yet but it is now

I agree. The Ymir is more important than our business with Kebechet.
But if we can find a way to bring down two birds with one stone, I would not be opposed. To strengthen the Queen's claim and to weaken the Regency's support are two different paths to our same goal.

You are correct. Mordred will follow her heart and act upon it, regardless of what that leads her to do.

[He had spoken to her about this in the prison, about how she had betrayed her entire people in doing something she felt necessary.]

I worry more that she would fight for her own side, and that it would cause diplomatic issues.
I do not believe she has much to agree with the Regency on.

We will be more likely to succeed, focusing our efforts together. Should you provide a focus, I will follow with what you decide best.

[Because he's way out of his depth in all of this political maneuvering, and he knows this is where Daenerys lives.]

Ah, I see.

[(Truth be told it's still weird to think of Kebechet as a woman and not a masked entity.)]

I would hesitate to put Kebechet and Xici on the same level. The former was an investigator with some amount of authority. I believe Xici was simply an agent, as we are.
My first reaction is no, to not trust her in that regard, but I cannot say how much of that is simply how I feel of her personally.
Though I suppose she is less useful to us dead, so perhaps it is something we should consider.

[He knows that this isn't his arena of expertise, and that you're far more suited to it than he is. There is much about their current situation and their current plans that he doesn't necessarily agree with, but how is he supposed to trust his own gut when the last time he'd done such a thing, it'd led to the trouble they'd caused in Paris?]

You are most likely correct. I do not see her parting with any information unwillingly.
And, yes, whatever she may divulge to us might be something meant to lead us astray, considering this is much of what she seemed interested in doing during our captivity.

[Much about the situation is difficult.]

I have no love for Kebechet, as I am sure you understand. But it is difficult for me to agree to assassination so easily.
But this is borne of the conflict of my heart. This is war, and I know that such things might be necessary.

I mean to say this only to agree with you. I have no intention to pursue her for revenge. But if to kill her might win us our cause, or protect our number in the future, I will agree to it.
And I will do what I can to help, though I will relinquish to another the duty of holding the knife.

It is very possible Kebechet lies with the truth.
It is possible she is like Xici and she believes all that she says, regardless of how it might be to us or in actuality. She can tell us pieces of the truth to try to manipulate our perception of the whole.
The Regency are clever. They know that being caught in a lie would lose us as future pieces in their plots. So I am always cautious of a deeper level of deceit with them.

[Sometimes your enemies did not seek to lie to you; Ashitaka had bore the truth of his curse to Lady Eboshi, and she had immediately showed him all of her secrets, not backing down from what she sought to do to safeguard them. The Regency gives him a similar feeling; they banked so much on their seeming integrity.]

I will not lecture you on the stage we stand nor the different enemies we face. I know you have more experience in this than I do.

[The news of her hand in perhaps orchestrating what happened to Noctis twists in his gut, but — to view this with anger or with any thirst for retribution was dangerous. He knows this intrinsically.]

She may have it, if it suits all of us.
We simply must act in a way that wins us this arena here and also sets us up for victory in our overall war.
