[1. NOT LONG AFTER THE KEBECHET PLOT ENDS. TEXT.]
>>FROM:@AEGONNER
>>TO:@ALL

The Sergeant has told me how to lay our commander to rest as well as we may. We have to be careful about gathering in numbers, but if anyone would like to come, to watch or to say a few words, we can meet here. Three hours. Don't be followed.

If there are words you'd like to say, but you've been hurt and can't come, tell me. I'll be sure that someone says them, as long as they honor her.

[He sends a relatively isolated location along with this message.]

>>PRIVATE ADDENDUM TO: SIEGFRIED & 76

Please come. The two of you should be there, more than anyone.

[2. AFTER HRHR FAILURE: VOICE]
[It's just a soft croak.]

Injured. Need aid.

[Primarily aimed at Dany, Chiron, and Jeyne, but he's not really in any condition to be selective.]
bloodings: (so let's make this)

[ It's time. Mordred's in full armour, but without her helmet — just like her father would be during these moments. That way, her voice is clear when it rings out, clearly speaking towards her network audience as much as Kebechet. The BCE's can't transmit video, so this is the next best option. ]

I told you then, didn't I? You could never hope to stand against my father. Now face the judgment of the King of Knights. [ Always him. Always him, even as she wields the blade, hands down the decision. ] The punishment for rebellion— is death. It's time for your execution, Regency dog.

[ She'd know. It's quick, at least: Agravain was the torturer, not her, and they won't get anything else out of Kebechet now regardless. The doomed woman says some final words, translated over the BCE: Be unwearied, unceasing, alive; let not the heart be troubled during your sickly sojourn on this rotting Earth— until the vicious sound of a blade cutting through flesh interrupts her, and then a dull thud. Even without video, it's obvious what just happened. ]

The fool Kebechet is dead. Of course, you don't have to merely take my word for it.

[ Attached is a photo of the woman's head, bald with numbers tattooed along it, and complete with Mordred's armoured boot resting atop it. It's not as grisly as it could be (the neck is out of shot), but it's still... well, a severed head. Don't worry: she's not sorry at all for this.

Still part of the recording, but aimed towards those she's with: ]

Ensure her corpse is disposed of properly. I won't have her return to be a nuisance again. [ Then, more generally— ] This was the wish of our Commander as well. The dragon woman has proof of that, so speak to her about such matters. Oh, and give her all your complaints, too. I have no use for the wailing of soft-hearted idiots.

They have their legends here of the Watcher and the Hunter. What do you know of them?

Has anyone mentioned the King Killer?

>>CLOSED TO: PEOPLE WHO ARE IN A LOT OF CONTACT WITH DANY.*
If I fall in the arena, look after STORMBORN. And keep her from retaliating, if you can.

[*This is certainly the group Dany sent her last locked network post out to, but it can also include anyone whose player thinks they'd be included. I tried to make a list and ultimately didn't want to accidentally omit anyone. If there's reason to think either of them would consider your character friendly or a friend, your character got this.

Also, this entire post isn't really on any specific timeline; could be at any point in the last couple of weeks.]

Before Gallipoli, it was discussed that we should come up with aliases to call each other, and have backstories to speak of while there was downtime in the war. At the time, we knew the Regency was there, but they wouldn't be so visible. It was enough to not be asked too much by the natives of the time, and allowed us the conditions we needed to blend in as a unit of reinforcements that was beached at the wrong location.

The situation may be different here, but I'd suggest we come up with different aliases from before, considering we'll be facing the Regency out in the open. Using your actual name isn't suggested- it could cause problems and endanger the rest of this cell if you do so. Try to pick something you'll remember easily enough.

Feel free to suggest names and ideas for yourselves, or help others. The BCE has a list of them you can pick from. The sooner we can compile a list, the easier it will make it for all of us to recall while in the middle of the mission.

[Boy, talking like this is a reminder of speaking with soldiers before battles. That was a long time ago, and he's getting back into the hang of it. Also, guess who's bad at suggesting names? THIS GUY. Thankfully, the BCE has a posh name generator that can be found here.]

I understand some of you are reluctant to change your names or use a different moniker when we make the drop in 1916's Gallipoli. If you're not from a standardized Earth, I suggest you reconsider. If you need assistance, I'll assign you one myself. You don't have to consider them names but codenames to be discarded after we return to BASE.

An example of this: Rider is now Kale. I told him I would notify you all of this alteration.

Think wisely about the impact small things could have on a timeline. They add up and any amount of skepticism brought about by our foolishness is too much. Thanks.

Tell me about your gods.

If you don't have that kind of faith, then tell me what else you believe in. There must be something.

And if not that, tell me what you think of when you know a battle is coming.

Has anyone else ended up finding strange...sets of plastic toys in their quarters today? [The tone here is mildly amused, but there is an undercurrent of concern.]

The appearance in and of itself doesn't alarm me, but the prognostications that have been issuing forth have been...singular in experience, given their shape.

[There is a moment's pause, before another voice, much deeper and more ominious chimes in with:]

Tonight you will walk into a wall in front of a crowd.

[Chiron clears his voice, then continues.]

As I said. Singular in experience. Let me know if you've received anything similar, I'm curious as to any greater purpose to them.

We have a few matters to discuss, and not as much time as I'd like for each of them, as often is the case. I hoped to give you more time to recover but the Watcher wants the next dance to start, so dance we must.

To begin. We have final confirmation on when we will be heading too, if not where. Enough that we are comfortable to begin your training. Late 1916 Earth, it looks like. Which... for those of you that are not familiar, is in the middle of the First World War. We aren't sure which Front yet, we hope for confirmation in the next few weeks so that we may brief you fully. But that can come later. For now, your orders are to report to Sergeant Chiron. He, Special Operative Young and I will see to your training. Report tomorrow morning 0600 to begin.

Secondly, as to the matter of rank. Seems many of you have never been in an army before to know these rules or have had your memories erased. To which we are still working to find out the direct cause of.

I am Commander Grothia, previously of the Regent's special division, defected. I oversee this contingent of COST, which there are many and we number only one amongst.

2IC is Sergent Chiron, Centaur, formerly the trainer of Grecian Heroes. Many of you have met him so far, he has 5000 years worth of history in that head of his. Use it as frequently as you can, I certainly do.

Lastly, there is Special Operative Young, whom you have all met. By that, I mean the crows. Yes, all of them are one woman. Stop feeding her, she'll get too fat to fly again.

They both answer to me, as you do. When I am not present, orders are to come from Chiron, when he is not present, it defers to Young. Likewise, I overrule any of their commands.

Unless special circumstances dictate it, I am the only one who enters the field with you. I will not dictate your every move, you are all far too capable for that. But let me be understood:

In the field, if I give an order, I expect it to be followed. If you have issues with that order, you may bring it to me - privately. I will always hear you. But if you openly question me in the field and get others killed for your insubordination? I will not hesitate in what I have to do to save lives.

To the final matter, and in regards to that. I know many of you found the work in France distasteful, getting the King and Queen killed for being hapless fools. I know it seemed extreme to just leave them to their fate.

But let me be clear if you interfere and change history as much as some of you might have by what you think is saving lives? I will leave you in the next plague-ridden field we find ourselves in. It is not single person's choice to dictate these events. Take France. Some of you have never seen or heard of Earth, but for others - those events are what birthed their whole new world. You would deny them that because you could not stomach what must be done? Mourn privately if you would, I will not say it is easy or fair or kind. But I will not tolerate such selfishness in my unit.

That is all. All operatives please acknowledge within the next 12 hours.

For the curious, we have finally found the source of the coolant shortages.

You may have noticed a certain oddity with your dreams as of late, and a greater and greater difficulty in waking from them. I can confirm that you have regrettably-- and entirely accidentally-- stumbled into the dreams of your neighbors and comrades. To those whose privacy has been invaded: we ask for your understanding and kindness. This was the fault of no member of COST.

A trans-dimensional creature known as the Oneiroi, the Telpharan, or more commonly, shapers, have invaded our ship. Colonies of the creature are known to invade ships and BASE models, consuming coolant while distracting their enemies with dreams and visions. These creatures currently live in our walls.

[Attached is an image of a rather exasperated Commander Grothia, flanked by several DACTYL droids, standing before a hole ripped in the wall of BASE's many hallways. She holds a shaper up to the camera, while several DACTYL droids chase more of the creatures escaping out of the walls behind her.]

I have been studying the creatures, and reading up on what histories and zoological studies have been written about them. Debate rages over their sentience-- some believe them to be pests. Others think them intelligent, sentient, sapient creatures who, while incapable of spoken language, communicate nonetheless through the language of dreaming. It is believed by some that the choices they make, of whose dreams to invade, whose to link, and how those connections are made, are an attempt to welcome other sentient creatures into their colonies, to make connections and be understood.

Debate has also continued amongst your command on how to best handle these creatures. Because their intelligence and self awareness is currently unknown, debated even now in scientific communities across the multiverse, we are ourselves unsure how to best deal with this problem. We leave it up to you.

In two days time, I shall put up a poll on the BCE network, and I encourage all to vote in favor of how these creatures should be dealt with: eradication, or (as my comrade has termed it) catch-and-release. Both posit their own risks: the possibility of a mass slaughter of sentient lifeforms, or the possibility of a resurgence of this infection. For myself, I shall not argue with the results, or argue either side. It is your choice to make, my poor fellow-soldiers.

For now: I ask you to consider the matter carefully. You may, of course, ask me any questions you like. I encourage you to debate this matter as thuroughly as you are able.

And in two days' time, I urge you: vote.

[ooc Yep, let's talk about the shaper infection. Characters can ICly debate here (threadjacking encouraged!); there will be an IC vote on the 19th, with results on the 21st. Ask any OOC questions you might have over here.]

I usually reserve these communications for private networks, but it seems necessity has hastened our meeting. For the safety of myself and my family, I would be of no uncertain gratefulness if you would refer to me as Sargent, and little else. Though I am sure, with time, some of you will come up with more colorful nicknames.

Pleasantries aside; welcome, new faces and old, and I must ask this with all seriousness and kindness: What have you done?

Things are moving at the wrong speed. The prognosticators were not expecting to compensate for such a load. Several droids have begun misfiring, our protochron readouts are gaining sentience, a prophet is missing, and the birds are growing increasingly agitated. This is not the series of events your ancestors knew, much less my progeny.

To put it simply: things are not moving apace. I cannot say for sure if this is your influence, or the influence of an outside power, or perhaps both. And yet:

Mary Wollstonecraft, who was not supposed to enter Paris until next month, is already here.

The King's Trial has not even been proposed by the revolutionary government.

Mirabeau sleeps still in a place of honor.

I will put more work into discovering the source of this snarl in history. But you must be warned: every action you have here changes the lives of untold million not yet born. Tread carefully, for as the poets say: you walk upon dreams.

Well met, allies. I require a service. Infiltration of the palace was a success; however, during part of my daily tasks, I'd stumbled upon a number of burned letters in the hearth. There appears to be four participants, one of which we cannot identify.

We do not hail from these lands, but to my understanding, some of you may recognize details that would otherwise be mistaken for little to no significance.

[ There will be images of the scavenged scraps of paper, clearly charred. To those familiar with Earth writing from this period, the handwriting will look strangely modern. The writer may seem to even be attempting unsuccessfully to ape an earlier style, but he(?) can't quite manage it. ]

[ ooc: this is for the Royal Pain mission! Help a sister and her boys out? :> Also, Jon might be threadjacking, so if you want to speak to Dany specifically, make it a private message. ]

Anyone else getting a massive wave of culture shock? It's totally kicking my ass right now. I got a nice little gig set up here above a bar, but the catch is I gotta work. But yeah, people are coming and going like crazy around here. Weird outfits, weird hairstyles. Seeing everyone go crazy about freedom is pretty freakin' cool. Nobody needs some stuffy old dude sittin' in a golden high chair sucking his royal thumb and giving out orders all the time.

Not gonna lie, I've seen some pretty big palaces before, but I totally wanna raid the hell out of Versailles.

So anyway, is it like this all the time when you guys get a new mission? I've never been to Paris before, but I kinda know what it looks like from pictures back in my own time? Universe? Good luck getting your head around that shit, it's way too deep for me. I was all excited to see the Eiffel Tower, but apparently it's not gonna exist for like... a hundred years.

this stupid mission is annoying.

they arent even feeding us properly. seriously who the hell runs an army like this? i could eat ten times what i have already. a knight like me shouldnt have to scavenge.

just waiting is a bore, so tell me something interesting. its fine if its trivial, but if its boring, you owe me a meal.
