My daddy always told me this world was a hard one to survive in. I'm not sure that he ever imagined it to this extent, but sometimes I can hear him saying those words so clearly in the back of my head.

Already in this brief time here I find myself so... different. I imagine we've all been tested in our own way. It certainly takes a toll even if the results are successful. At times it's as if I need an anchor to weigh me down.

Drawing has...always been a relaxing exercise for me. Lately it's hard to get some rather unpleasant images out of my head. Do you all have someone that you fight for? A place? Names might not be the wisest to drop here, but it'd boost my spirits to hear about them even in the vaguest sort of sense.

i fight for myself, and for what is mine. any other reason would be foolish.

not really. as a king, other people are included in my stuff as well. every citizen of britain will bear witness to my glory.

It seems that you would have to care for your people for them to give your reputation any worth.

i dont care about humans. i dont. but at the very least, i wont let anyone kill common folk. a king has to promise that much.

other than that, i dont care what people think of me. why should i? even a good king can be hated, or a bad one loved. i just do what i think is right.

There are many stories of bad kings. As irritating as you are, I don't wish that on you.

You seem embarrassed to care about anything besides yourself. It's all a bit sad.

sad? its not sad. a king has to think of himself differently than anyone else.

tell me, then. what makes a good ruler? if you know so much of bad ones, it should be easy to figure out what it means to be the opposite.

My father was a lawman for many years. He didn't have to be the brashest character in the room nor the most imposing. He listened more than he spoke. In that regard everything he said sounded so deliberate and purposeful.
