i have no faith in any gods, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.
i have seen the boons they bestow instill their devout with a false sense of security. all we have in battle are ourselves. each other.

Praying won't save you if you don't know how to fight, or if your brothers in arms don't have your back.

Has a friend saved you in battle, or have you saved a friend, maybe?

No. But when I was younger, I was part of a brotherhood that guarded one of our borders, and at one point, we took most of the able men out on a Great Ranging. The night before we left, some went to a brothel and some went to the sept for prayer. I noticed that that seems to be the way it is for a great many people.

Most of my faith was in my brothers themselves — not all of them, but enough.
