I do not believe I would be here if the answer was no.
I am sure they were very convincing. I would like to remember what it was they said.

[Oh, Prompto... are you ready to be a mom. ):]

If the creature is young, as you said, there's a lot of effort that goes into it. You truly cannot leave it alone for too long, and you must train behaviors you wish for it to learn early on.
And typical things, such as feeding it and keeping it clean...
I am not certain what specifics there would be for a "chocobo," though.

[He's not offended; he supposes it could've been intended that way. He's not really great with talking via text.]

From conversations I have had with our commander and sergeant, I do not think I have cause for worry.
...But I have been told I can speak that way sometimes, yes. It was not my intention.

[Why did COST suddenly take such things into their own hands, thrusting so young into the wilds of child-rearing.]

Those should probably help, yes.
If it is anything like another animal you might train to ride one day, it takes time. When they are beginning to get to the proper size, you get them familiar with riding gear, such as the saddle. Then, some weeks later, you try to get them used to the weight of a person on their back.

["Breaking" was a pretty brutal term for it, but there it is.]

[what does ig mean...

he decides it's not worth asking . . .]

Yes. There is always a chance the memories might be returned later, but in the meanwhile, there are more pressing matters.

[Like how to train your new giant chicken.]

Yes, we have chickens.
Until then you will have to take care of her, as you might any other child.
If she is going to be staying at the stables, I can ask Yakul to spend time with her. He is not any type of bird, but it might help.

I have not considered speaking to it.
What do you plan to speak about?

I would prefer my own companion remain un-eaten as well.
He is a red elk.
We should introduce them to one another before we get sent to our next mission. They can keep one another company when we are gone.

[Because he thinks the only other animal being kept in there is a wolf and, regardless of how well-trained Jon says he is, Ashitaka still has concerns...]

We will be living upon its back for some time... Yes, it would be the polite thing to do.

We do not have chocobos where I am from, so that is not surprising.
I am, yes. I can travel to the stables shortly.

[Ashitaka is very aware of what happened with the shapers.]

I think this would be a good idea.

I will see you there, then.

[In person, the fluffball looks almost just like a normal chicken, except one that a child might describe from a story. It's certainly cute, tagging along at Prompto's heels.

Ashitaka stands with Yakul by his side; the elk takes immediate notice of the young chocobo, his eyes fixating and his nostrils flaring as he tries to gain whatever information he can about something he's never encountered before.]

Hello. [Ashitaka greets with a faint smile.] This is Yakul, [said with one hand resting on the broad plane of the elk's neck,] and my name is Ashitaka.

[Ashitaka responds to the enthusiasm with a broad smile; he appreciates anyone who also appreciates his good friend Yakul. The elk in question seems a little taken aback by the energy, blinking his dark eyes and flicking his ears in response. But he doesn't seem offput by it, just giving a quiet huff of breath.

The tiny chocobo is certainly cute. Ashitaka smiles kindly at it, kneeling down to one knee.]
Hello, Stella. You do not have to be worried.

[Yakul blinks at Ashitaka and follows his lead, slowly lowering himself down so that he was resting with his legs folded up beneath him.

Ashitaka looks up to Prompto.]
How much bigger did you say she will grow? [He remembers him saying people ride them, but... well. With as small as she is now, it's hard to believe she could grow that much??]
