Has anyone else ended up finding strange...sets of plastic toys in their quarters today? [The tone here is mildly amused, but there is an undercurrent of concern.]

The appearance in and of itself doesn't alarm me, but the prognostications that have been issuing forth have been...singular in experience, given their shape.

[There is a moment's pause, before another voice, much deeper and more ominious chimes in with:]

Tonight you will walk into a wall in front of a crowd.

[Chiron clears his voice, then continues.]

As I said. Singular in experience. Let me know if you've received anything similar, I'm curious as to any greater purpose to them.

When I walked into my capsule, I did find strange creatures sitting upon my bed. One is an ugly, fat, pink blob. The others look as if they are a cross between fish and insect, sitting upon... a grain, of some sort? When I touch them, they speak, much like yours do.

[ To punctuate her point, she pokes the pink blob and a feminine voice with an accent--much akin to Missandei's--speaks: ]

A thrilling time is in your immediate future.

That's doubtlessly strange. Someone else might have an idea of what the shapes actually are.

[But that blob's words...]

I find the words from yours much more ominous.

Are you familiar with identifying creatures? What do yours look like?

[ The words of hers.... well, she spares the thing a glance before shaking her head. ]

I find the voice to be far more unnerving than the words. A thrilling time? Its humor must be poor, if it speaks of our trainings and next mission.

They're all the same breed of dog, as it turns out.

[Jury's out on that being a good or bad thing.]

Anything coming out of items this small is bound to be. But I'll agree with you as far as poor humor goes. Interesting is an alarmingly ambiguous word.

Dogs, I understand. Mine, however...

[ Well, she sends him a photo of the deep sea creatures, and a second which focuses on the strange pink blob sitting atop a bed of rice (not that she knows what any of this means). ]

Do you recognize these? I can't imagine the creator of these items had humor on his or her mind.

[Chiron goes quiet, trying to just process what the hell he's looking at.]

Well, the little things they're on top of, those are types of food. Rice that's been rolled up. Some of these things look like fish, so I suspect they all are?

[That blob is going to haunt him, Dany. Thanks.]

Absurdity was probably on the creator's mind.

I believe doing it on purpose defeats the purpose of these things.

[ Doesn't make it less funny... ]

But if you do it on purpose now, then it won't happen later. You'll be beating them at their own game! [ Not how it works. ]

[Wait until you get your own collection of prophecy plastic, Mordred!]

I'm fairly sure that manipulating prophecy is an invitation to make matters worse, you know.

So bring it on. What's the worst that could happen?

That sort of thing is meaningless to me, anyway. I decide my own fate. [ And yet her whole life revolves around the sword in the stone, and its prophecy. ]

...Do you know the story of Oedipus?

[Always gotta go with the Classics for examples.]

That may be so, but since you're arguing what's the worst that could happen?

[ Of course that's the part she remembers... striking a bit too close to home there, Chiron. She snorts. ]

If that's supposed to be a warning, it's a pretty bad one.

The important part is the details. Oedipus' father was told his son would kill him, so to avoid that fate, Oedipus was eventually exposed on a mountaintop to die. Obviously, he didn't, and he ended up killing his father on road to Thebes and killed him by accident instead.

Then he should have killed the child. His mistake was leaving it on the mountaintop to start with. That was cowardice, not mercy.

[ Morals corner with Mordred... ]

If a prophecy tells me something good, I'll accept it. If it tells me something bad, I'll fight it. If I don't care, I'll ignore it. That's just how it is.

One can debate what should have been done until the end of time. My point was that fighting prophecy has a very bad way of coming back to haunt a person.

[Morals corner with Mordred, the new hit children's program.]

That is an attitude that doesn't surprise me. I think most would adopt the same.

Don't compare me to others. Anyway, there's only ever been one prophecy that matters.

[ Her mother predicted she would destroy the kingdom — and she did. But that was no prophecy, it was her own choice. The sword of selection is the only one she believes in. ]

At least this one is funny. If it does come true, you'll just have a sore head for a while. [ And Mordred will laugh. ]

[Chiron's voice goes up slightly. He is genuinely interested to see what road that leads down.]

And if not, you're deprived of occasion to have fun at my expense. I suppose everyone wins regardless of outcome.

[ Don't think she didn't catch that note of interest... it's not like her identity is a secret anymore, at least to the other Servants. ]

[He's the last person to get the memo about her identity, probably.]

Whoever draws it becomes king. Of course, they have to be worthy of it first. That's why King Arthur was the only one who could fulfill the prophecy.

But I can, too. I just need the same chance. And... I'm going to be an even better king than he was.

[This does explain a number of conversations, especially the one in Mordred's dream. It is also painfully clear that this is a matter to never antagonize Mordred about in any way, shape, or form.]

...I see. And that certainly explains your opinions on the matter of fate.

[ Chiron really is the wisest Servant. ]

Exactly. So I don't give a damn about any other prophecy. The most they can do is confirm what I already know.

But fools can make what they like of them. That isn't my problem.

[Mordred's a ball of anger, it doesn't take wisdom to know not to poke the anger ball.]

If you'd believe in something just because some witch or oracle said it, then yes. That would be foolish.

The sword of selection's power was proven by my father. Only something like that is worthwhile, not the mutterings of some hag or a toy.

Mmm. [There's a bit of a compulsion to defend the Oracle of Delphi from being lumped in under the heading of the hag, but she can do that in her own time and Grail War.]

Well, if the toy provides you entertainment at my expense, then it at least has some value outside of the oracular.

Back home, yeah. They're these little pod thingies you put money into a machine and it pops out a prize. People go nuts over trying to collect the whole set, especially if they're limited edition, or related to anime. Pretty popular in geek culture. What did you get? I got these turtles that stack.

It's all randomized, save for us then. I'm unsure if that's good or bad luck. [But, more importantly:]

They're all small dogs...pugs, perhaps? I'm unfamiliar with modern breeds.

The fortunes they're givin' are absolute crap.

Anyway, I know some stuff about dogs, send me a pic and I'll try to figure out which breed they are!

Never heard of a case like that before. Usually they just sit on your shelf collectin' dust and you throw some of 'em out when you get bored of 'em. There ain't too much to collecting gachapon. Some of them talk, but usually it's just a little mechanized voice box that says a saying or two.

[Holy crap, Chiron, that's adorable.]

What an interesting name for an entire type of dog. [They're...ugly. But charming.]

They do add some personality to the lodgings here at well. Even if their prognostications are decidedly dim.

[Low key has to look up the word "prognostications" but once he does afterward, he commits that to memory. People are always telling him to work on his vocabulary more, after all.]

If stuff starts moving around in the middle of the night or being thrown into walls, then it's probably haunted. If not, I would have no concerns.
